I love filming happy couples.
I always say weddings are all about people and this was a perfect example. Gemma and Bella spent the day with beaming smiles and nothing but love and affection for one another. They got married at the stunning One Belgravia wedding venue in London with a winter wedding theme. Before the ceremony, they decided to a ‘first look’ followed by a video shoot in the rose garden at Hyde Park.
I had so much fun filming these two beautiful girls and all of their lovely wedding guests. I hope you enjoy this little sequence of moments telling the story of their wedding 🙂
Why do you want to capture your wedding on film?
It’s the only chance we get to watch and relive our wedding day back, that captures all the beauty and emotion from not only us but our family and guests too. It’s our opportunity to see all the different wonderful moments, many that we didn’t get to see ourselves at the time. And we can watch this back until we’re old and grey!
Why did you pick Browns Films to film your wedding?
Our best friends used Tom as their wedding videographer and having seen how great he was in person on their day and how he pulled the film altogether in such a stylish, slick, artistic way with a theme and music to suit the couple was such a personal, impressive touch. Seeing his work convinced us to have a videographer – no other videographers we checked out compared to Tom’s work.
Tell me a little about yourselves, what’s important to you both?
Each other, valuing our time together and with our little pooch. We both have a real appreciation for travel and try getting away from day to day life in London as much as we can to see the world.
The proposal, tell me everything (Including all the gushy bits!)
Every girl deserves a proposal. So there were two proposals!
Funnily enough despite us not communicating with one another we both secretly were getting engagement rings made at the same time.
Bella makes iPhone apps and thought, why not combine this skill with our trip to Vietnam, creating a romantic itinerary for certain points of the trip with excursions, massages, photo memories and poems to open throughout the trip. On one of the final evenings the app directed Gemma to put her best dress on for dinner under the stars, and at that point Bella opened the doors from our villa onto the beachfront where lanterns and candles were laid out.. and that’s where the proposal took place, ahead of a romantic private dinner on the sand – it was magical!
Shortly after returning from Vietnam, Bella had to leave for Toronto for work for a few months. So without much flexibility on date opportunities… Gemma didn’t want Bella to have to be engaged without having a ring and deserving her special moment too! So Gemma planned a trip to visit and a weekend away from the City for them. Acknowledging that she couldn’t create an app.. she used Cue cards instead. She hired a car and drove them to Niagara Falls… where it rained and poured. We were soaked through! Which worried Gemma immensely as little to Bella’s knowledge there was a helicopter ride planned en route to Niagara on the Lake where they were staying that night. Fortunately, the sun came out just at the right time, and the proposal back to Bella happened flying high in the sky above the Niagara Falls.
Then venue/s? … Why this place above anywhere else?
We live in London and it’s where the majority of our friends and some family live so to us it made sense to get married in our city. The venue One Belgravia, by Hyde Park Corner, blew us away and accommodated the style of wedding we were after all under one roof (which in London is pretty hard to come by). The staff were fantastic, we were so lucky to have such a good team working with us.
What experience do want to give your guests?
A celebration of us getting married. In the style and format that was unique to us, eliminating certain elements of a traditional wedding and only including the parts we love about weddings! We wanted it personal and romantic, having the ceremony at sunset with candles and white flowers and blossom everywhere, followed by a black-tie soiree, food and drinks being circulated, speeches then the dance floor doors sliding open for the proper party to commence! We wanted our nearest and dearest with us, having a wonderful, memorable time and the night to finish on a real high!
