We wanted to capture our day on video so we could re-live the day, everyone told us that we’d regret it if we didn’t have a videographer and it turns out it was our favourite gift, nothing beats looking back especially as the day went by so quickly it was great to see all the moments big and small!
I chose Browns Films as it came highly recommended from our photographer and We had literally spent months searching for the perfect match to our day, watching endless videos on Instagram and Browns Films just hit the spot and we knew straight away we had to book! – Toms work is modern and captures realism which was really important to us.
We are both senior buyers, Tom works in the automotive industry and Charlotte works in the Beauty industry. We are both big foodies and love to travel together, whether that be touring Italy one vineyard at a time or braving the snows of Iceland and this is where Tom proposed.
On that frosty evening of January 4th 2018, we took a detour whilst walking back from a romantic meal in Reykjavik and stumbled across a frozen lake. There was no one around apart from the swans 🦢 Tom had been really quiet all day whilst hiding the ring in his big coat braving the Icelandic cold, trying to find the perfect spot to propose.
Whilst on the ice (trying not to fall!) he asked and she said YES!
A city girl from Salford meets a country boy from Cosby, their first date was in a quiet gastropub, where first impressions included ‘Oh my god, he sounds so posh!’ and ‘She wants me to share my dessert?’ – but he never did share that Creme Brûlée
Our Wedding was held in Derbyshire, the county that sits between both our origins of Lancashire and Leicestershire
Our venue, The West Mill is a magnificent Grade I Listed former industrial mill dating back to the early 1800’s. Originally built as a cotton spinning mill and is positioned in a beautiful setting on the riverbanks of the River Derwent and waterfalls of the weir.
This was the perfect location for the bride who grew up surrounded by the industrial warehouses of Manchester and the groom who grew up in the heart of rural England surrounded by the natural beauty of the countryside.
On our first visit and Andrew the co-creator lead our tour – we knew this was something special! The authenticity of the building and it’s interiors was like no other, such a cool space from the cobbled flooring to the beautiful ceilings!
We wanted the wedding to have a contemporary feel and do things our own way! It was so important to us that our guests had THE best time and wanted to ensure it was a wedding to remember!
Having The Alchemist provide cocktails at our reception with the backdrop of ‘radio 1 live lounge’ music was so much fun. We provided drink tokens and had personalised cocktails including a ‘Harry Potter Butter Beer’ and a ‘Smoking Light Bulb Moment’ parred with canapes of spicy Cajun prawn tortillas and Minted Lamb bites.
Being foodies meant we spent a lot of time at tastings ensuring we had an exciting and seasonal wedding breakfast.
We had a four-course meal. Cheese and truffle Oil Arancini, Followed by Parma ham, melon and mozzarella bruschetta, fillet of Beef and Strawberry and Mint Tart with Sorbet. In the evening we opted for something different, a Cantonese street food stall and not forgetting our incredible wedding cake!
We couldn’t have asked for more from our super talented suppliers! A special thanks to Nadia our florist, Rachel our cake baker and Sarah who provided our Stationery for making our day look jaw-dropping gorgeous! It was everything we imagined and more!
As well as the two special guys Tom + Luis, what fun we had sharing the day together with you both!
