When it comes to luxury marquee weddings, the details make the design. Katie and Dillon’s celebration at their family’s own Abingworth Vineyard (Nutbourne Vineyards) was a masterclass in combining high-end elegance with massive personality.
As a Sussex wedding videographer, I film in plenty of marquees, but few are transformed with this level of vision. Planned and designed by the talented One Curious Dream, the weekend was a perfect blend of a traditional village church ceremony and a high-fashion, high-energy reception in the heart of the Sussex countryside.
The setting at Abingworth was idyllic, with vines stretching across the horizon, but the real showstopper for the film was the interior design.
The Floral Canopy: Fall Into Flowers created a breathtaking installation that ran the entire length of the marquee. As a videographer, having this much texture and depth to work with allows for incredible “sweeping” cinematic shots that immerse the viewer in the space.
The “Askehurst Arms”: One of my favorite details to film was the custom-built, fully operational pop-up pub named after the couple. It provided a brilliant hub for those candid, unscripted moments that I love to capture in my documentary style.
Fashion & Energy: Katie transitioned from a romantic Elie Saab gown for the ceremony to a party-ready Oscar de la Renta for the evening. Capturing the shift in energy as the sun went down over the vineyard was a highlight, from the soft, editorial portraits with Joshua Patrick Photography to the packed dance floor.
Filming a private estate wedding in Sussex comes with unique technical requirements, especially when working with bespoke marquee builds.
Managing Light & Scale: I used a mix of drone cinematography to capture the scale of the vineyard and fast cinema lenses to handle the atmospheric, low-light “pub” vibe inside the marquee.
Sound & Celebration: With a heavy focus on live music from The London Street Band and Supertonic, I used a multi-source audio setup to ensure the music in the final film sounds just as energetic as it did on the day.
It was a privilege to work alongside some of the best in the industry for this celebration:

“We were blown away by our film. We put so much effort into the details, the pub, the flowers, the music and Tom captured it all perfectly. He understood exactly the vibe we wanted: high energy, lots of fun, but still looking cinematic and beautiful. Watching it back takes us right back to the best party of our lives.”
